Yiwu, located in Zhejiang province, experienced substantial growth in sea-rail intermodal transport in 2023.
Official statistics indicate that the city handled 85,900 containers through sea-rail combined transport services last year, reflecting a 6.7 percent year-on-year increase.
Meanwhile, five shipping companies operated regular weekly sea-rail combined transport services, and the port implemented a direct loading model for sea-rail combined transport. Furthermore, the first tax refund business for land-sea departure ports was successfully completed.
In addition to these developments, Yiwu has introduced a new sea-rail combined transport model, employing a "through bill of lading + destination port route". This initiative has seen the opening of routes to India's Mundra and Nhava Sheva ports. This innovative model not only enhances transportation efficiency but also reduces logistics costs.
To further support these advancements, a special task force has been established to aid sea-rail combined transport enterprises in conducting trials for port-of-departure tax refunds. This effort ensures that businesses fully leverage policy incentives, thereby bolstering the high-quality development of export trade.
