The Shangshan culture archaeological exhibition opened at the Alexander Royal Jewelry Museum in Egypt on Dec 7 (local time) and will run until Dec 25.

The exhibition displays 25 high-precision 3D-scanned replicas of cultural relics to showcase Shangshan culture, such as evidence of paddy cultivation, settled villages, and pottery technology.

The exhibition also simultaneously launched an online cloud exhibition titled "Eternal Shangshan: Origins" to global viewers.

This is the first exhibition of Shangshan culture held abroad, which is of great significance in promoting cultural preservation, development, and international exchange and cooperation, said Fang Yuan, director of publicity department of the CPC Pujiang committee.

Fang added that Shangshan culture helped give rise to rice agriculture and is an important source for Chinese agricultural villages. It is also a significant discovery site for early colored pottery.

Pujiang county in Jinhua, Zhejiang province is the site of the Neolithic Shangshan Culture, which dates to between 11,000 and 8,500 years ago. Nearly 200 funerary objects and chipped stone tools were unearthed at the site from 2001 to 2008.
