As of Oct 17, 12 new bird species, including broad-billed sandpipers, red-breasted merganser, carrion crow, and red-billed tropicbird, have been found in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province this year, according to Ni Junpeng, a member of the Zhejiang Wild Bird Society.

Ni noted that the best places to watch migrating birds from September to October are mainly located in the mountainous areas in the north and south of the city, such as the areas around the Zhizhe Temple and Xiake Ancient Path.

The best places to watch wintering waterbirds from November to next January are large-scale wetlands and farmlands, and the best time is early morning and evening.
