The cross-Strait exchange base was unveiled in Youbu town in Lanxi, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, on Oct 17.

The 4th Cross-Strait Photography Culture Week was also launched at the inauguration ceremony.

This was largely due to Lanxi authorities having in recent years been tapping into cultural resources like Lang Jingshan, a photography pioneer in China, to strengthen exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

The town, which is currently home to four photography culture exhibition halls, holds more than 50 photography events and receives 1,000 photographers from both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan every year.

Lang, who was a native of Youbu town, moved to Taiwan in 1949.
