Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province has taken a series of measures to expand elderly care services this year.

For example, authorities have released "Love Cards" to seniors aged 60 and above from disadvantaged families and individuals aged 80 and above to offer help in subsidy distribution, life care, domestic services, and health care.

The elderly can use the card to access home-based elderly care service institutions, senior canteens, and caring catering enterprises to receive meals across the city. They can also use the card to enjoy discounts at all contracted caring businesses and take public transportation.

Authorities have implemented the principle of "financial investment, collective contribution, social donation, and family contribution" to boost funding for the "Love Card" scheme, which is playing a key role in easing the burden of family care for the elderly.

A total of 987,400 "Love Cards" for elderly care services have been distributed in the city, accounting for 84.57 percent of those eligible.

A financial investment of 64.66 million yuan ($8.86 million) has been made, guiding village and community collectives to invest more than 10 million yuan, raising charity funds of 10.21 million yuan, and mobilizing family funds totaling 6.11 million yuan.

Seventy-eight professional elderly care institutions and 102 medical rehabilitation institutions have been selected to sign contracts, providing home services 10.09 million times for 3,287 targeted elderly people, and providing other services more than 1.53 million times for the elderly in the city.
