Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province has been making efforts to reduce waste at its source, maximize resource utilization, and create a more environmentally friendly and impressive atmosphere for the Asian Games.

In the city, 12 venues have been designated as "Waste-Free Asian Games" establishments, including seven waste-free hotels, three waste-free sports venues, one waste-free factory, and one waste-free scenic area.

As a co-host city of the Games, Jinhua has implemented a series of measures, including adopting advanced technologies and recyclable materials at its competition venues and encouraging the use of electronic manuals and electronic tickets.

"We have replaced 288 'Asian Games lights' to ensure brightness while reducing glare," said a staff member from the city's ecological environment bureau. The lighting is energy-efficient, eco-friendly, durable, and provides a soft and comfortable illumination.

Beside the roads of various sports venues, there are three mini-monitoring stations for noise and air quality. The real-time display on the screen shows the concentration of noise, air pollutants, and meteorological parameters, monitoring 13 air pollutants such as PM2.5 and PM10, as well as meteorological parameters.

The city has also implemented small-portion dishes and sharing plates for catering. In hotel rooms, all single-use items are reusable.

Jinhua has set up 24 indicators focusing on infrastructure, source control, and daily management to reduce all types of waste and ensure 100-percent safe and harmless disposal, according to authorities.
