A delegation from Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, took a four-day trip to South Africa to seek more economic and trade cooperation from Sept 19.

The delegation hosted a trade and investment promotion conference in Johannesburg on Sept 20, during which an invitation was delivered to Princess Faku, Mayor of Buffalo, inviting him to attend the 2023 China (Zhejiang) China-Africa Economic and Trade Forum to be held in Jinhua in November.

During the event, representatives of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed cooperative agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in terms of organizing business visits, building overseas warehouses, and advancing cultural and tourism cooperation.

Relevant investment policies and regulations and laws were also outlined at the conference, and the Zhejiang Wuju Opera was performed.

On the same day, the SACCI also held a meeting where representatives from 200 South African and Zhejiang enterprises had a face-to-face engagement, which is crucial to enhancing mutual trust and cooperation.

The Zhejiang enterprises were mainly comprised of Jinhua companies engaged in biomedicine, mechanical equipment, household necessities, and logistics services.

Thirty-eight companies from Jinhua attended the 7th China (South Africa) Trade and Commodity Fair on the same day, showcasing high-quality light industrial products at 56 booths.

South Africa is now the largest trading partner of Zhejiang in Africa.
