Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Intellectual Property Rights Alliance launched in Pan'an

The Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Intellectual Property Rights Alliance was inaugurated in Pan'an county, Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, on Sept 12, according to local media reports.

Du Qunfeng, deputy director of the Jinhua Market Supervision Bureau, said at the inauguration ceremony that the alliance is aimed at integrating intellectual property resources and coordinating relevant forces from industry, academia, research, and application scenarios, with the goal of enhancing the core competitiveness of industrial clusters and promoting high-quality development of the county's traditional Chinese medicine industry.

Pan’an has five authentic Chinese medicinal herbs that enjoy a high reputation at home and abroad as well as the largest medicinal herb trading market in the Yangtze River Delta region and the only national-level nature reserve dedicated to the protection of medicinal plant genetic resources.

The county is currently home to 1,219 species of cultivated and wild medicinal herbs, accounting for 68% of the province's total. It has a cultivation area of 7.26 square kilometers for Chinese medicinal herbs.

He Haoting, deputy Party secretary of Pan'an, said at the ceremony that the county has established an intellectual property rights protection service center and an intellectual property rights working group. The county has a patent ownership of 26.1 per 10,000 people, and has obtained nine geographical indication trademarks.

The alliance will further optimize the cooperation and exchange mechanisms between members, establish a knowledge sharing center for intellectual property information resources, and build a platform for patents, trademarks, copyright licenses, transfers, and intellectual property pools, according to authorities.
