Jinhua city in East China's Zhejiang province hosted an event on Aug 14 to commemorate the country's first National Ecology Day, which falls on Aug 15.

The event called on the whole city to fully shoulder the significant mission of environmental protection and continue to advance along the path of harmonious coexistence between man and nature, local media reported.

Deputy Mayor Li Binfeng attended the event, during which 10 initiatives to ensure a "waste-free Asian Games" were announced, showcasing an unwavering commitment to protecting green mountains and clear waters and jointly building a beautiful homeland.

In recent years, Jinhua has steadfastly pursued the development concept of "lush mountains and lucid waters are invaluable assets" and comprehensively promoted the construction of a beautiful Jinhua and a demonstration zone of an ecological civilization.

Jinhua's economic and social development has entered a phase of accelerated green and low-carbon high-quality growth, requiring a broader vision and greater efforts to ensure environmental protection.

Moving forward, Jinhua will consolidate its strong momentum in environmental protection by integrating and optimizing policies and measures related to pollution and carbon reduction.
