Jinhua's efforts to improve its water quality were recognized provincially, according to an announcement released at a provincial ecological environment protection conference on Aug 8.
Jinhua has made significant progress in promoting the construction of zero direct discharge zones for sewage, restoring water ecosystems, and creating beautiful rivers and lakes. In 2022, all 17 national-controlled, 26 provincial-controlled, and 47 municipal-controlled surface water sections in Jinhua achieved complete compliance with the six water quality indicators.
Authorities have made a list of atmospheric pollution sources and a list of noise pollution sources, including 3,418 industrial enterprises and 1,125 construction units, as well as launched two national pilot projects for straw burning, monitoring data storage, and governance, effectively reducing the number of fire points and improving the disposal rate to enhance air quality.
The local government has also promoted investigations into soil pollution and achieved a 100-percent land safety utilization rate for key construction land. Authorities have strengthened the solid waste disposal capacity, achieving full coverage of small and micro hazardous waste collection systems, and achieving basic matching of solid waste disposal capacity.
