Bamboo-weaving handicraft of mascots for the upcoming Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games in Narada Hotel in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, attracted much attention.

A representative of the hotel said that Narada will receive athletes during the Asian Games, and the bamboo weaving offers a glimpse into the city's rich culture.

The handicraft was created by Shao Lixin, a practitioner of bamboo-weaving, an intangible cultural heritage item in Jinhua.

Shao, who has been focusing on bamboo weaving for more than 40 years, learned the techniques from his father and grandfather, and has created three bamboo-weaving handicrafts featuring the mascots of Congcong, Lianlian and Chenchen, respectively.

Shao has also established an exhibition hall in Jindong district’s Shangqian village, where his bamboo-weaving handcrafts are on display.

Shao said that combining bamboo weaving techniques with the Asian Games is a great way to promote the traditional technique.
