Jinhua's foreign trade up 15.4% Jan-May

The imports and exports in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province were valued at 303.61 billion yuan ($42.29 billion) from January to May this year, up 15.4 percent year-on-year, according to statistics from Jinhua Customs.

Exports were worth 259.69 billion yuan, an uptick of 10.9 percent year-on-year, while imports totaled 43.92 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 51.2 percent.

In May alone, the imports and exports stood at 68.7 billion yuan, up 19.1 percent year-on-year.

Jinhua's foreign trade to Africa, Latin America and the Middle East over the period was 45.94 billion yuan, 40.98 billion yuan, and 35.8 billion yuan, up 26.9 percent, 34.6 percent and 27.2 percent respectively and accounting for 40.4 percent of the city's total.

The imports and exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries were worth 109.78 billion yuan and 49.68 billion yuan during the first five months of this year, up 16.3 percent and 6.6 percent year-on-year.

The city's general trade posted a stable growth over the same period, with imports and exports of general trade totaling 128.13 billion yuan, an uptick of 10.9 percent year-on-year.
