The 2nd herbal culture festival was held in Zhangzhai village in Qianxiang town, Dongyang, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 3.

The event attracted nearly 1,000 tourists, who attended exhibitions of medicinal herbs, tasted medicinal herbal tea drinks, and gathered herbs.

Qianxiang town has a long history of planting medicinal herbs and is currently home to 13,000 mu (866.67 hectares) of herb plantations.

One of the reasons behind the booming industry is a series of measures taken by authorities in recent years, including providing subsidies to herb farmers.

Traditional Chinese medicine physicians from Dongyang Chinese Medicine Hospital were also invited to deliver a speech about wellness and conduct free medical diagnoses for attendees.

The festival was aimed at promoting the town's medicinal herb sector, which will in turn aid its rural vitalization drive, said a local official.

Authorities will take advantage of the town's natural resources to expand its medicinal herb industrial chain and increase incomes for locals.
