Pan'an county in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, launched a campaign to strengthen the protection of its natural and cultural heritages on May 19.

At the launch ceremony, an eco-friendly monument dating back to 1897 was unveiled.

The monument, on which inscriptions stipulate that residents are not allowed to undermine fishery resources, shows that the county has a long history of conserving its biodiversity.

The campaign is aimed at establishing a coordinated mechanism that incorporates administrative and judicial forces to conserve its natural and cultural heritages, including ancient villages, buildings, trees, bridges and paths, according to authorities.
