The 1,000th freight train, loaded with 100 TEUs, departed Jinhuanan Railway Station in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province for Central Asia on May 16.
In August 2017, the maiden Jinhua-Central Asia freight train traveled from Jinhua to five Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The return trip started in May 2020, marking a milestone in opening a new channel for international trade between Jinhua and the five Central Asian countries, said local authorities.
The recently-departed train is mainly carrying products such as daily necessities, hardware tools and gardening tools, while the return train will mainly carry raw materials such as cotton yarn, grain, and minerals that will be key to bolstering the province's manufacturing sector, according to authorities.
A total of 217 freight trains have been launched this year, of which 95 are departing trains and 122 are return trains, official statistics show.
A series of cooperation agreements for grain transportation was signed at the launch ceremony.
