The 6th Chisong cherry culture festival opened in Huyan village in Chisong town, Jindong district, Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, on April 15.

The festival was aimed at promoting the town's specialty fruits like cherries, waxberries, and figs, as part of efforts to drive rural vitalization.

A series of events related to investment promotion, local delicacies, cultural and creative products, and photography, as well as specialty produce exhibitions, will be held during the festival.

During the opening ceremony, local authorities and Jinhua Railway Transit signed a cooperation agreement that will see cherries delivered to cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou and Wenzhou on the same day they are picked.

Huyan village has a cherry plantation spanning more than 1,300 mu (86.67 hectares) that produces an annual output of 800 metric tons worth more than 50 million yuan ($7.26 million).

The harvest period is from the last 10 days of April to early or mid-May.
