The cross-Strait exchange base was inaugurated in Youbu town in Lanxi, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, on April 12.

This is largely due to efforts by authorities to tap its cultural resources like Lang Jingshan, who was one of China's photography pioneers, to strengthen exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan in recent years.

Efforts include establishing a classic camera museum, renovating the Lang Jingshan Memorial House, building a professional photo exhibition hall, and setting up a cross-Strait photography workshop.

The town, which is currently home to four photography culture exhibition halls, holds more than 50 photography events and receives 1,000 photographers from both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan a year.

Lang, who was a native of Youbu town, settled in Taiwan in 1949.
