The health literacy level of residents in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, was 38.2 percent in 2022, up 3.56 percentage points from the previous year, according to a survey by the Jinhua center for disease control and prevention that polled 5,778 people aged between 15 and 69.

Health literacy refers to the ability of individuals to access and understand basic health information and services and use them to make correct decisions to maintain and improve their health. It is also widely considered an important measure of a place's economic and social development level.

In recent years, Jinhua has promoted health science awareness, providing technical and intellectual support for the spread of health knowledge, as well as giving health lectures in rural areas, with 6,628 health education activities for 168,452 people held throughout the year of 2022.

In addition, all 46 hospitals at the secondary level and above in the city have become health promotion hospitals, and 545 schools in the city have become health promotion schools.
