The third session of the 8th Jinhua Municipal People's Congress commenced on Feb 8 at the Jinhua Municipal Culture Center, local media outlets reported.
Lawmakers from all walks of life listened to the government work report delivered by the city's mayor, which focused on major government work in 2022 and main tasks and goals to be carried out in 2023.
According to the reports, the gross domestic product of Jinhua grew 2.5 percent year-on-year to 556.25 billion yuan ($82.07 billion) in 2022. The per capita disposable income of residents is growing faster than the overall economy, and the income gap between urban and rural residents has narrowed to 1.95. The value-added of the manufacturing industry, strategic emerging industries, and high-end equipment manufacturing industry, which are the core of the digital economy, all rank first in the province. Ten tasks for improving people's livelihoods have been successfully completed.

The government work report detailed priorities for 2023, focusing on things like steady economic development, opening-up, scientific and technological innovation, advanced manufacturing promotion, business environment optimization, comprehensive revitalization of rural areas, improving the environment and living standards, and maintaining social harmony and stability.
During the three-day session, deputies to the congress will review the report of the municipal government on the implementation of Jinhua's national economic and social development plan in 2022 and its 2023 draft, the report on the implementation of Jinhua's 2021 budget and the 2022 draft, and the report on the basic situation of potential Jinhua social projects for 2022.
