Jinhua's major achievements in 2022 and plans for the city's development in 2023 were laid out in the annual work report delivered by Provincial Governor Wang Hao at the opening ceremony of the first session of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, which commenced on Jan 12 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang's capital.

The report is divided into four parts: a review of work in 2022 and the past five years, overall requirements and goals and tasks for development over the next five years, development goals and key tasks for 2023, and practical strengthening of the government's own development.

In 2022, the volume of shipping containers shipped via Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains increased by 18.7 percent year-on-year.

In addition, Jinhua hosted the 17th Games of Zhejiang Province - the first time a city in central or western Zhejiang has hosted a provincial sporting event.

Among the overall requirements, goals and tasks for development over the next five years in Zhejiang, Jinhua will build an integrated transport network, better protect and utilize historical sites such as Shangshan culture, promote the protection of traditional arts such as Wuju Opera, and continue to develop Hengdian film and television cultural industry cluster.

In 2023, Jinhua will focus on the 19th Asian Games and help Shangshan culture apply to become a world cultural heritage item.
