A total of eight communities in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, were included in the second batch of 80 provincial future communities in 2022, according to local media outlets.

The term "future community", as mentioned in the provincial government's work report in 2019, is based on the idea of urban development to make cities more people-oriented, environmentally friendly and digital.

In May, Jimingshan community in Yiwu became the city's first listed future communities to be created with the national goal of common prosperity in mind.

The newly listed ones include the Wucheng Liuhu Garden, Jindong Duohuli, Dongyang Houtang, Yiwu Danxi, Yiwu Yongxiang, Wuyi Xinan, Pan'an Longshan and the Jinhua Development Zone Heyue Future communities.

A total of 60 communities in Jinhua are currently working to develop into future communities.

They aim to create urban and rural communities that are more than mere development projects by throwing governance, education, culture, healthcare, fitness and sustainable living into the mix.

As for services, the communities offer everything from libraries, cafes, screening rooms, evening classes, telemedicine clinics and day care centers for children and the elderly to exhibition spaces, craft centers, parks, museums, schools, smart running tracks and sports facilities.

In addition, many communities are digitized, with many of their services monitored from a dedicated center. Residents can monitor and control some things through a community mobile phone app, particularly home functions like heating, water and lighting, as well as book classes and appointments and even rent out their parking space when it's not in use to make some money on the side.
