A groundbreaking ceremony for supporting nodes of the expansion and reconstruction project of Jinhua's railway was held on Nov 29.

The expansion and renovation project of Jinhua's railway is a key project of the high-quality integrated development plan for transportation in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The project will cost 25.7 billion yuan ($3.7 billion) and includes the newly built Shanghai-Kunming general-speed line (Shanghai-Kunming outer detour), the Yiwu-Jinhua Railway, and the Yangmeitang Railway Freight Center of the East China International Intermodal Port.

The Shanghai-Kunming outer detour will start from the east end of Tangya Station on the Shanghai-Kunming Railway and pass through Jinyi New District and Wucheng District before terminating at Jiangtang Station. The new line will cost about 16.5 billion yuan, measure 47.9 kilometers in length, and occupy about 8,457 mu (563.8 hectares) of construction land.

The Yangmetang Railway Freight Center will cost about 1.9 billion yuan and cover about 2,015 mu (134.33 hectares). It is expected to become a major logistics platform in Jinhua and develop into a national first-class railway logistics base serving the Belt and Road Initiative.
