Zhu Chonglie, Party secretary of Jinhua and a delegate to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, said he was greatly inspired by the key report to the congress, which gives priority to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, during his recent interview with Farmers' Daily.

According to the report, China will continue to put agricultural and rural development first. People will move faster to build up China's strength in agriculture and steadily promote the vitalization of businesses, talent, culture, ecosystems and organizations in the countryside.

In recent years, Jinhua has been making efforts to promote agricultural and rural development and improve living standards among farmers.

Zhu said that over the past decade, the city has stabilized the sown area of grain at more than 1.21 million mu (80,666.67 hectares) and the output of grain at more than 458,000 metric tons.

Zhu added that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the per capita disposable income of farmers and low-income residents in Jinhua increased by 8.4 percent and over 13 percent each year, respectively. All administrative villages have an annual total income of more than 100,000 yuan ($13,806.44) and operating income of more than 50,000 yuan.

Zhu noted that the city will continue to promote rural vitalization, scientific and technological innovation, transformation and application in the agricultural sector, improve rural living standards, and help broaden channels for farmers' income growth.
