Jinhua delegates to CPC national congress arrive in Beijing

A total of three delegates, representing more than 380,000 Party members across Jinhua, Zhejiang province, arrived in the capital Beijing on the morning of Oct 14 to attend the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which is scheduled to open on Oct 16.

Zhu Chonglie, Party secretary of Jinhua, Wang Jian, Party secretary of Yiwu, and Yang Xiayun, a national first-class actress of the Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe, will hear and examine a report submitted by the 19th CPC Central Committee, examine a work report of the 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and deliberate and adopt an amendment to the Party's Constitution, during the weeklong event.

The delegates will also elect the Party's 20th Central Committee and its 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, according to officials.

A total of 49 delegates from Zhejiang province, coming from all walks of life, were nominated and recommended by electoral units at all levels in Zhejiang. Twenty-one of them are frontline workers, accounting for 42.86 percent of the total. There were 17 female delegates and two delegates from ethnic minorities, accounting for 34.69 percent and 4.08 percent of the total, respectively.

The National Congress is held twice a decade and convened by its Central Committee. It reviews the work of the CPC over the past five years by hearing and examining the reports of the Central Committee and the Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection, sets roadmaps for both the Party and the country by discussing and deciding on major issues of the Party and revising the Party Constitution, and helps elect new CPC central leadership.
