Jinhua hosts pear festival

Hengdian village, Jiangdong town, Jindong district, Jinhua hosted a peach festival on July 20 to promote the high quality pears developed in Jinhua.

During the festival, the title of "pear king" was given to a 1,284-gram honey pear grown by Xu Yuequn. The pear grown by Xu Shunjian also won recognition from the Jinhua Academy of Agricultural Sciences for both its appearance and taste.

The pear plantation in Jiangdong town totals 7,000 mu (466.67 hectares) in area, with an annual output value of more than 40 million yuan ($5.93 million). Pear farmers in the town make 10,000 yuan per mu each year.

In 2019, the Wuzhou Pear was approved as a national geographical indication registration and protection product. Jiangdong town is the largest production base of Wuzhou Pears in Jinhua, with a planting area of more than 3,500 mu.
