​Jinhua's consumer market recovers steadily in H1

Jinhua's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 139.84 billion yuan ($20.73 billion) in the first half of the year, an uptick of 3.3 percent year on year to rank third in East China's Zhejiang province, according to the local commerce bureau on July 27.

From January to June of 2022, the online retail sales of Jinhua increased by 5.4 percent year-on-year to 169.27 billion yuan. The value of residents' online consumption reached 58.93 billion yuan, up 5.1 percent year on year.

Among the city's upgraded consumer goods, the sales of sports and entertainment products, smartphones and new energy vehicles increased by 28.1 percent, 44.4 percent and 179.2 percent year-on-year, respectively.

The city's wholesale consumption grew rapidly during this period. The wholesale industry and retail industry increased by 19.9 percent and 4.8 percent yearly, respectively, ranking second and seventh in the province.

Officials from the local commerce bureau said that the consumption coupons released by the government played an active role in encouraging people to consume and drove the recovery of the economy.
