Jinhua sees GDP rise 3.4% in H1

Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province saw its gross domestic product grow 3.4 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2022, hitting 264.15 billion yuan ($39.07 billion), according to local statistics authorities.

The added values of the city's primary, secondary and tertiary industries increased by 1.8 percent, 5.9 percent, and 3.8 percent, respectively.

In the first half of the year, the total value added of the city's industrial enterprises above designated size reached 66.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.3 percent. Among them, the added value of the high-tech industry was 42 billion yuan, accounting for 63.4 percent of the total.

In addition, the added value of strategic emerging industries, equipment manufacturing, and high-end equipment manufacturing increased by 39.3 percent, 20 percent, and 38.1 percent, respectively, ranking first in the province in terms of growth rate.

With consumption coupons handed out by the local government, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 139.839 billion yuan from January to June, an uptick of 3.3 percent year-on-year and ranking third in the province.

Jinhua also saw robust foreign trade growth during this period. The value of exports totaled 284.8 billion yuan, rising 19.4 percent year-on-year, while imports amounted to 35.77 billion yuan, a surge of 66.5 percent. A total of 1,176 China-Europe freight trains carrying 97,200 twenty-foot container equivalent units operated in the first six months, a year-on-year increase of 8.9 percent.
