Employees of Zhejiang Zhuomuwang Mahogany Furniture Co have been busy making the wooden parts of the torches for the 17th Games of Zhejiang Province in recent days.
Du Changjiang, chairman of the company, said that carvings made on the wooden part of the torches are double dragon and cloud patterns - both traditional Dongyang woodcarving patterns.
The torch for the 17th Games of Zhejiang Province was named Dengfeng, which can be translated as "Reach the peak". Its wooden handle is narrow at the bottom and wide at the top, with the longest part measuring 27 centimeters - 10 cm longer than the shortest part. Such a design not only complements the top part of the torch, but also represents the body of Jinhua Mountain.
The Games of Zhejiang Province are held every four years, and this is the first time Jinhua, a city in central Zhejiang, has hosted a provincial sporting event.
