​Jinhua wins provincial awards in sci-tech innovation

Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, won 18 awards at the 2021 Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Awards on July 11, local media outlets reported.

Among them, 15 awards, including two first prizes, four second prizes, eight third prizes and one international scientific and technological cooperation award, were given to research teams from Jinhua that lead or participate in new scientific and technological research.

The first prize for provincial scientific and technological progress was given to the "Complete technology of high stability NdFeB heavy rare earth reduction and high abundance rare earth replacement" project of Zhejiang Innuovo Magnetics Co and Zhejiang University, as well as the "Breeding and application of new varieties of late japonica rice with high yield, disease resistance and lodging resistance" project of Zhejiang Normal University and the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

In 2022, Jinhua has released a series of measures to promote scientific and technological innovation, including the construction of scientific and technological innovation platforms, the cultivation of innovation entities, the accumulation of innovation resources, and the optimization of the innovation environment.

From January to May in 2022, the added value of high-tech industries in Jinhua increased by 17 percent yearly, ranking second in the province in terms of growth rate. The R&D investment of industrial enterprises above designated size in the city also saw an increase of 41.3 percent year-on-year.

In addition, in the first six months of this year, a total of 783 enterprises based in Jinhua were recognized as provincial sci-tech small- and medium-sized enterprises.
