Jinhua's foreign trade up 29.3% in Jan-May

Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, posted a 29.3 percent year-on-year increase in foreign trade in the first five months of 2022, according to the latest data from Jinhua Customs.

The total value of the city's imports and exports exceeded 263.18 billion yuan ($39.36 billion) during this period. Exports grew 26.0 percent year-on-year to 234.13 billion yuan, while imports increased 64.4 percent year-on-year to 29.05 billion yuan. The growth rates on total foreign trade value, exports and imports were 11.8, 4.6 and 56.4 percentage points higher than the provincial average respectively.

In May, the city's foreign trade amounted to 57.72 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.2 percent. Exports grew 7.8 percent year-on-year to 51.56 billion yuan, while imports increased 35.4 percent year-on-year to 6.16 billion yuan.

Since July 2021, the city's imports and exports have achieved positive year-on-year growth every month.

From January to May this year, the city's exports of high-tech products were up 124.1 percent yearly to 21.15 billion yuan, accounting for 9.0 percent of the city's total export value - and the proportion increased by 4.0 percentage points compared with the same period last year.

During this period, foreign trade between Jinhua and member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership amounted to 46.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.4 percent, which is 17.7 percent of the city's total foreign trade value.
