Xu Fengcan, one of the first female pilots trained by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (CPLA) Ground Force, was mentioned in the Chinese category of the Chinese national college entrance examination, or gaokao, in Zhejiang province.

In 2017, after fierce competition between 120,000 fresh high school graduates, the Army Aviation Academy carefully selected 10 female pilots with excellent test scores across the country.

Xu from Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, was the first female pilot in the 10-person team to qualify for a solo flight, due to her technical prowess, skilled maneuvers and stability in the air.

In 2020, the headline of the "first promotion of 10 female army pilot students trained by PLA" attracted much attention.

"Finally, I realized my dream of flying, and I'm so proud to be a female pilot of the CPLA Ground Force," Xu said.

In June of last year, after four years of training in military academies, the 10 first female pilots successfully graduated from theoretical studies and practical training.

Based on the recruitment conditions released by China's Ministry of National Defense, women must reach a height between 165 and 185 centimeters and have 20/25 vision, plus a high score in the national university entrance examination.
