A rare species of firefly - the giant female firefly - was found in the Dapanshan National Nature Reserve in Pan'an county, Jinhua, on June 8.
This is the first time the species has been discovered in East China's Zhejiang province, as it can only survive in very specific types of environments.
The giant female firefly is known as a "giant among fireflies". The discovered specimen is about 7 centimeters in length, with more than 30 light-emitting points on its body, making it appear like a caterpillar.
