A X9216 China-Europe freight train carrying goods including clothing, shoes, socks, household appliances and other daily necessities departed from South Jinhua Station on June 8 for Huoerguosi port, from where it will depart for Kazakhstan.

The shipment of goods completed customs clearance under the "railway express customs clearance" model, the first time the model has been applied in Zhejiang province.

The "railway express customs clearance" model was jointly launched by the General Administration of Customs and the National Railway Group. Under the model, customs will review, release and write off the electronic data of railway manifests, to supervise imported and exported goods carried by railway trains without receiving declarations from operating enterprises.

According to Lu Zhengyang from Jinhua Customs, the new model can shave one or two days off travel time for goods transported via China-Europe freight trains.

Lu added that the model is of great significance for improving customs clearance efficiency, alleviating port congestion, improving the transportation capacity of China-Europe freight trains, and reducing international logistics costs.

From January to May this year, a total of 960 Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains were launched from Yiwu and the Jindong platform of Jinhua, carrying 79,500 20-foot equivalent units of foreign-trade-related containers.
