E-commerce platforms and improved logistics services are helping increase sales of loquats developed in Lanxi, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, according to local media outlets.

Loquats often become ripe in May and June. Their harvest season is during the off season of other fruits, so it is popular among people in early summer. Lanxi, a major producer of loquat, has produced about 10,000 tons of the fruit this year.

The loquat produced in Lanxi is round with thin and tender skin, plump pulp, and a sweet and slightly sour taste. It is also juicy and refreshing with high nutritional value.

To protect the delicate fruit from damage during transportation, the Lanxi Branch of China Post now provides full packing services with inflatable membrane and divider cartons.

Wang Chunxian, owner of Lanxi Feixian Home Farm, said that their fruit was sold mostly online, which reduces time and costs and helps increase sales in many cities nationwide.

China Post has so far opened six direct land transportation lines within the province and several flights outside the province for Lanxi-produced loquats. An intra-city delivery service was also launched in Jinhua.

As of May 17, over 6,000 packages of Lanxi-produced loquats have been sold nationwide, 90 percent of which were sold to consumers in the Yangtze River Delta region, Guangdong, and Beijing.
