Sea-railway intermodal trains have played an important role in meeting demand for import and export transportation for cities in Zheijang province such as Jinhua amid the latest COVID-19 outbreak.

A sea-rail intermodal train carrying hardware products such as garden tools, fitness equipment, thermos cups, and electric tools set off from Yongkang East Station, Jinhua on April 28 for Ningbo-Zhoushan Port to undergo customs inspection before departing for overseas.

The sea-rail intermodal trains in Yongkang started to operate daily from April 28 in order to meet rising demand. They previously only operated twice a week.

In addition to the sea-rail intermodal trains leaving for Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, Yongkang East Station has also opened special train lines to Wenzhou Port. The station has been working to optimize traffic flow in order to ensure timely transportation of goods and reduce logistics pressure for foreign trade enterprises, according to a director of Yongkang East Station.

To date, a total of 147 sea-rail intermodal trains have run from Yongkang to Ningbo-Zhoushan Port carrying 15,000 twenty-foot equivalent units.
