The Yiwu Internatioal Airport in Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, will be relocated to build the Jinhua Yiwu International Airport according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, local media reported on Jan 5.

The Jinhua Yiwu International Airport aims to become a 4E-class international airport where Boeing 747s, Airbus A340s and other four-engine long-range wide-body aircraft can take off and land, with an annual capacity of over 10 million passengers.

By 2025, potential passenger throughput and cargo throughput demand in central Zhejiang is expected to be 9 million people and 150,000 metric tons, according to the prediction of the Institute of Comprehensive Transportation of the National Development and Reform Commission.

Zhejiang Provincial Airport Group predicts that in the future, Hangzhou's air passenger demand will be about 150 million people, but the Hangzhou International Airport terminal capacity is only about 90 million people. The construction of the Jinhua Yiwu International Airport will help alleviate congestions at the Hangzhou International Airport.

In the future, the region where the Jinyi Railway Station and Jinhua Yiwu International Airport are located will form a comprehensive transportation hub without transfer that integrates various modes of transportation, such as aviation, high-speed rail, regular rail and bus.
