Tongxiang in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, will deploy six autonomous shuttle buses and launch three shuttle routes during the 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit from Nov 2 to 5.

The three routes will connect key summit venues, including the Light of Internet Expo Center, Li-Ning Sports Park, Gold River-Side Hotel, and Puyuan Scenic Area. The public can ride the buses for free.

The buses first appeared at Tongxiang Railway Station last year. Their top speed has increased by more than 30 percent from last year, while algorithm upgrades have made starts, lane changes, and turns smoother. Each bus has completed more than 7,000 kilometers of testing.

Tongxiang has connected traffic signals at more than 500 intersections with the buses, transmitting real-time information on signal status, countdowns, and traffic conditions. This allows the buses to anticipate signal changes, while rear displays show the status of upcoming traffic lights to drivers behind them.

Tongxiang has also completed intelligent upgrades on the roads connecting Tongxiang Railway Station with Wuzhen and Wuzhen with Puyuan, and built a cloud-control platform. It plans to extend sensing coverage to six more roads to further develop its integrated vehicle-road-cloud system.
