Located in the historic and cultural city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Gongshang University (ZJSU) is a comprehensive key university in Zhejiang province that offers multiple disciplines including management, economics, engineering, literature, law, science, history, philosophy and arts. The university is also entitled to enroll overseas students as well as students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

ZJSU consists of three campuses: Xiasha campus, Jiaogong Road campus and Tonglu campus of Hangzhou Business College, covering an area of 1.658 million square meters. It owns equipment and facilities for teaching and scientific research which are worth 390 million yuan ($61.49 million), and has collected 3.28 million books. The university has 25 colleges, with 27,600 full-time students, including 22,800 undergraduates and 3,800 graduates, and 1,800 overseas students.

In the past years, ZJSU has been paying great attention to international exchanges and cooperation, and making an effort to promote education internationalization. The university has partner relationship with more than 100 universities and scientific research institutions from more than 50 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Moreover, the university has started cooperation programs with over 60 foreign universities and research institutions such as Columbia University, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Manchester, Waseda University, the University of Canterbury, and Chulalongkorn University. The programs are in the areas of faculty and student exchange, mutual granting of credits, and scientific research cooperation.

Mater of Project Management (MPM), in cooperation with the University of Quebec, has trained over 600 postgraduates. The Alliance Francaise de Hangzhou has developed into the largest French language training and cultural exchange center in Zhejiang province. ZJSU has also co-established a Confucius Institute with Howest University, Belgium, at which there are currently 600 students enrolled.
