Summer heats up economy in Yiwu

As temperatures continues to rise, the Yiwu Small Commodities Markets saw increasing orders for summer products such as swimwear apparel, swim rings, sun-proof products and electronic fans.
According to data provided by Chinagoods, an e-commerce platform launched by Yiwu-based Zhejiang China Commodities City Group, a total of 1,301 keywords for purchasing cooling products were received in June, and 209 merchants gave offers. Fans, ice silk products, and sun-proof products were the most in demand, accounting for 33 percent, 11 percent and 9 percent among keywords, respectively .
Li Fangyuan, a swimming product seller at the Yiwu Small Commodities Markets, said their workshop is operating at full capacity and producing 20,000 swim rings each day, as the products have been fully booked until August.
Jin Qingxian, a seller of electronics, has received several orders from South America.
Jin said that usually September and October are the peak seasons for South American customers purchasing electric fans. Theeorders came from several buyers worried about unstable production and logistics in light of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Many merchants are also doing livestreams on e-commerce platforms to attract buyers directly.
Long Dongzhao, a toyshop owner, opened a channel on Douyin and started to make livestreams last May. So far, her account has attracted 23,000 fans and receives over 600 orders each day.
