Damaiyu port area in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, has strengthened trade links and improved port services through new shipping routes and upgraded facilities.
In September, the Tian Jiu 2 vessel departed for Nakhodka, Russia, carrying more than 500 new energy vehicles, marking the port's first full-vessel export of new energy vehicles in containers.
The port has developed routes to countries including New Zealand, Chile, Thailand, and Russia, importing 11 categories of fresh products, including kiwifruit, cherries, king crabs, and coconuts. Since launching cold-chain services with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership countries in April 2022, it has handled 40 shipments of fresh produce and seafood worth more than 4.5 billion yuan ($672.47 million).
The port's container throughput rose from 362,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2020 to 600,000 TEUs in 2025, accounting for 74.3 percent of the total. It is also developing new terminal projects to further enhance container handling capacity.
