Nanhui honey peaches hit market with new traceability system
Nanhui honey peaches, a signature summer fruit from Pudong, have entered the market with a new quality traceability system that lets consumers verify origin and safety by scanning a QR code.
Designated a nationally protected geographical indication product in 2005 and a certified geographical indication certification mark in 2010, the Nanhui honey peach industry has become a key pillar of Pudong's rural revitalization. It supports more than 1,000 farming households and generates an annual output value approaching 400 million yuan.

Each peach box branded under the cooperation union now includes a "Shennong Code" traceability label. When scanned, it provides consumers with details about the producer, safety checks, farming history, and green certifications — ensuring complete traceability from orchard to table.

The peach industry has also adopted three Shanghai group standards covering quality, production techniques, and packaging, with unified management across technology, quality control, branding, and retail pricing.

To ensure authenticity, consumers should look for four key features: the traceable Shennong Code, the geographical indication trademark, the brand's standardized packaging box, and the quality certification label.
