Rainy season paints Jiading in summer charm

chinadaily.com.cn |  Updated:2026-07-06

The plum rain season has brought a refreshing summer atmosphere to Shanghai's Jiading district, with lotus flowers in full bloom and historic streets shrouded in mist.

At parks including Qiuxiapu Garden, Guyi Garden, Yuanxiang Lake, Liuyun Lake, Chenjiashan Park, and Jiabei Country Park, rain falls gently on blooming lotus flowers, creating ripples across ponds and enhancing the tranquil scenery.

Historic sites are also embracing the season. Light rain has veiled the white walls and black-tiled roofs of Jiangshangqiao Cultural Park, while the old streets of Anting Old Street, Nanxiang Ancient Town, Loutang Old Town, Jiangnan Xiuye Cultural Park, and Cao'an Village are enveloped in soft mist.

The gentle rain, blooming lotus flowers and traditional Jiangnan architecture combine to create a tranquil landscape, offering residents and visitors a chance to enjoy what locals call Jiading's "fifth season", the annual plum rain period.
