Shanghai boutique hotel wins over international travelers
A boutique hotel in Shanghai's Minhang district is attracting a growing number of overseas visitors, with nearly half of its guests coming from abroad.
Located on Longming Road, the hotel, called the yard, opened in April 2025 and has welcomed travelers from more than 30 countries and regions. Guests from South Korea, Singapore, Russia, and the United States are among its largest international visitor groups.
The hotel's founders say its proximity to the Hongqiao transportation hub is a key advantage, offering convenient access to airports and railway stations.
To reach international travelers, the hotel actively promotes itself on overseas social media platforms. It shares travel tips, curated city walk routes, and nearby attractions, while also collaborating with local restaurants to offer dining recommendations and special packages.
The hotel has also introduced bilingual services, with staff assisting guests with travel routes, restaurant recommendations, and information about Shanghai. Some visitors describe the experience as feeling more like "a friend's home in Shanghai" than a traditional hotel.
Food is another highlight. Guests can enjoy both Chinese and Western breakfast and brunch options, and many international visitors share photos of their meals on social media.
French traveler Camille said the hotel stood out from others she had visited.
"I've stayed in many hotels, but this is the only one that made me feel I didn't even need to go outside."
The hotel's 88 rooms feature natural materials, warm colors, and garden views, creating a calm and restorative environment for guests.
