Baoshan's Gongkang Crabapple Garden opens to the public

A new crabapple-themed garden has opened in Baoshan district on June 19, offering residents a serene retreat for walking, jogging, and family outings. The Gongkang Crabapple Garden, located along the eastern side of the Dongjiaojing River on Gongkang Road, spans approximately 11,000 square meters of green space.

The garden features six crabapple varieties: Malus robusta, Midget crabapple, North American crabapple, ‌Malus 'Radiant'‌, Hall crabapple, and Malus 'Adams', each distinguished by unique flower forms, colors, and blooming periods. Although the plants are in their first year of establishment, future springs are expected to bring spectacular blooms.

The garden includes a circular running track and pedestrian pathways, catering to both morning joggers and evening strollers. Educational signage provides plant information, making it an engaging destination for families where children can learn while enjoying nature.

The garden has two main entrances: one on Gongkang Road and one on Quanlin Road, which is still under construction. As part of Miaoxing town's "park city" initiative, additional pocket parks are being developed along Kangwen Road and Jiyun Road, with work currently underway.

The garden is part of a broader effort to weave green spaces into urban life, bringing nature closer to residents' doorsteps.
