Changning lights up summer evenings with districtwide activities

Shanghai's Changning district is transforming summer evenings into a districtwide leisure experience, bringing together art exhibitions, stage performances, zoo programs, shopping events, and hotel packages to enrich nighttime leisure and stimulate evening consumption.

At Liu Haisu Art Museum, the Blue-and-White+Art Exhibition will add special night sessions on July 10 and 11, featuring curator-led tours, performances, and cultural talks that make art viewing more immersive.

Performing arts take center stage across the district. Hongqiao Art Center presents Mahua FunAge productions, including a western-themed comedy NAO Town and The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, alongside the Yixiaoxuan crosstalk show and family science performances. Shanghai International Dance Center Grand Theater features major ballet and dance works, including Under the Stars of Paris, a gala by 14 dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet, a Han-Tang dance production, and Shanghai Ballet's Le Fantome de l'Opera. Haisu Culture Plaza and other venues add live music, while a draft beer and music festival at New Hongqiao Central Garden combines beer, food markets, retro Shanghai elements, and stage shows.

Families can also take part in Shanghai Zoo's summer night program, which offers evening tours highlighting nocturnal animals. Shopping destinations add more interactive experiences, with a Hasbro-themed toy carnival at The Place and mid-year family activities at Cloud Nine City Life Center.

Hotels, including Radisson Collection Hotel, Yangtze Shanghai, Xijiao State Guest Hotel, and Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park Hotel, are offering summer packages that combine dining, family fun, and nearby attractions.
