Jiading District

Jiading district is located in the northwestern part of Shanghai, covering an area of 463 square kilometers.
The district has eight towns: Anting, Malu, Nanxiang, Jiangqiao, Xuhang, Waigang, Huating and Loutang. Moreover, there are four sub-districts of Jiadingzhen, Xincheng Rd, Zhenxin and Juyuan.
Jiading benefits from its strategic position as a key hub connecting Shanghai to the Yangtze River Delta, bolstered by the development of the Hongqiao International Opening-up Hub and the advancement of Jiading New City.
Jiading has shown impressive economic growth for 2025. Its three key industries, including automotive, integrated circuits, and biomedicine, have thrived, generating a combined output of 336.58 billion yuan ($48.3 billion). Its foreign trade reached new heights, with import and export volumes growing by 5.6 percent year-on-year to 183.61 billion yuan. The Jiading Comprehensive Bonded Zone achieved a record 12.3 billion yuan in bonded trade.
Jiading is home to Shanghai International Automobile City, fostering a world-class auto industry cluster that integrates manufacturing, education, and services.
Emerging industries are also thriving in Jiading, particularly in strategic sectors like new energy vehicles, the Internet of Things (IoT), and biomedicine. The district offers substantial policy support for businesses, providing financial incentives for the headquarters economy, public listings, and innovation projects, with significant funds available for healthcare equipment, precision medicine, and IoT initiatives.
The district hosts 11 national research institutes and several centers affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Jiading boasts excellent transportation links, being a short drive from both Pudong and Hongqiao International Airports. Major railways and highways traverse Jiading, including the Shanghai-Nanjing Railway and Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, as well as several expressways and metro lines.
Rich in historical and cultural heritage, Jiading hosts festivals like the Confucius Culture Festival and promotes traditional arts such as bamboo carving. It is home to numerous scenic spots, including the Fahua Pagoda and Qiuxia Garden. The Shanghai International Circuit in the district is the venue for international events like the F1 World Championship Chinese Grand Prix.
