2025/26 FIE Fencing Grand Prix concludes successfully in Songjiang

Shanghai's Songjiang district hosted the 2025/26 FIE Fencing Grand Prix from May 15 to 17 at Haopu Film Base. Top international foil fencers delivered thrilling competitions, blending Eastern culture with world-class sports for spectators.

As the season-ending event of the 2025-2026 FIE Grand Prix, Shanghai offered high-ranking points. The tournament brought together 410 elite athletes, with all national team leaders competing for crucial world ranking positions in men's and women's foil.

In the men's individual final, neutral athlete Kirill Borodachev defeated Poland's Andrzej Zadrovski 15-9 to claim his first career Grand Prix gold medal. Borodachev praised Shanghai's exceptional facilities, event organization, and enthusiastic audience support.

In the women's individual final, 37-year-old Italian Martina Batini beat Japan's Yuka Ueno 15-11, winning her fifth Shanghai Grand Prix podium. Batini highlighted Shanghai's inspiring atmosphere and the audience's respect for fencing.

This marked the 22nd consecutive year the FIE Fencing Grand Prix has been held in Shanghai. From 2017 to 2023 and now 2025-26, the city has witnessed the persistence and achievements of world-class athletes on its international stage.
