South American fireworks dazzle Jinshan at China-Brazil Year of Culture event
Fireworks from Brazil lit up the night sky over Shanghai's Jinshan City Beach on May 4 as part of the China-Brazil Year of Culture 2026, a bilateral cultural initiative to strengthen mutual understanding and artistic exchange.

Lorenzo, a Brazilian student studying in Shanghai, said the display's green and yellow bursts reminded him of home. "It felt like I was back in Brazil," he said, describing a deep emotional connection despite cultural differences.

Romanian visitor Matei called the show "breathtaking" and said he would encourage friends to visit Jinshan. The event was staged as part of the "You in the Bay Area — International Youth Tour" for foreign students, spotlighting China's cultural hospitality.
The program blended technology and tradition, with drones weaving light patterns above the beach alongside robot performances. After the Brazil segment, a Chinese fireworks act from Jiangxi featured designs of cherry blossoms and colorful clouds, eliciting "wow" reactions from the crowd.
A finale of more than 200 custom golden fireworks filled the sky like a cascading curtain. Visitor Zhang, who came from Fengxian district, said the spectacle was "truly spectacular and unforgettable", capturing the imaginative power of cultural collaboration.
