Songjiang furniture wins 2026 Design Shanghai award

Kaicheng Furniture Co Ltd, based in Songjiang, earned a 2026 Design Shanghai Picks award. Its brand, Knights Craft, stood out among more than 500 brands from over 20 countries with the innovative Parquetry Side Table.

The table, designed by Lin Yuxian, pays homage to 16th-century European geometric parquetry while reinterpreting it for modern interiors. Instead of replicating intricate flat patterns, the design transforms traditional motifs into three-dimensional modular forms.

The surface features gear-like edges and interlocking parquetry modules. Seen from above, the table presents precise geometric shapes; from the side, sculptural contours emerge. Made of light oak, its natural grain produces layered textures that change with light, combining artistry and functionality.

Offered in two heights, the table adapts to multiple uses — as a sofa side table, bedside cabinet, or coffee table. Its modular structure evenly distributes stress, enhancing durability. The design reflects a fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics, bridging historical craftsmanship and contemporary living.
