Foreign scholars explore cutting-edge humanoid robots in Shanghai
A 57-member international scholar group from Peking University's Dongfang Scholarships Program visited Shanghai's humanoid robot innovation incubator in Xuhui's Caohejing Hi-Tech Park. Hailing from 57 nations across Asia, Africa and Latin America, the scholars got close access to China's latest robotics and AI progress.
As China's first incubator dedicated to humanoid robots, the site showcased diverse high-tech creations: various robots from local firms and Fudan University, smart robotic dogs, bionic-eye equipment and flexible robotic hands. These technologies serve healthcare, senior care, deep-sea work and logistics. A standout robotic coffee maker even printed personalized latte art with visitors' photos.
Many visiting scholars shared warm feedback. A Cabo Verde scholar printed her father's birthday photo on coffee foam, praising tech's power to create precious memories.
Delegates from Pakistan, Cambodia and Botswana voiced surprise at China's fast tech advances. They praised Shanghai's robust investment in robotics, predicting wide-ranging daily, commercial and industrial use of humanoid robots and hoping their home countries can learn from China's R&D experience.
